Crushed greywacke stone or gravel, also identified as “road metal”. GAP20, which stands for General All Passing 20mm, is the best option for foundational compaction in preparation for building new driveways or footpaths. Alternatively, it can also be used in the establishment of a base course for hard landscaping applications like paving and cobbles.

View our range of pavers online here and perhaps bundle your base course, sand and pavers together and get them delivered all at the same time.

Size: Maximum 20mm aggregate, contains fines.

Colour: Light grey

A general-purpose product that is excellent for use in hard landscaping and as gravel for driveways. The beauty of this versatile product is that it can be used as top course gravel for driveways, and as a base course for other landscaping uses like concreting and pavers. It is also commonly used in and around new housing developments as a preparatory base.

Essentially a quarried aggregate that is finely graded to pass through a 20mm aperture screen together with fines, GAP20 is considered to be a very clean, contaminant-free material. Because of the fines, it compacts well, binding to form a really good, solid layer, and is ideal for use as a base course for everything from roads, driveways, walkways and paving. It is also very useful as a base layer under concrete, and can be used successfully for renovating driveways that are showing signs of potholes, or that have begun to start to crumble.

When GAP20 is used for any of these applications, it should always be well compacted or rolled before the finished surface is laid. Alternatively, a much finer gravel  may be used, depending of course on both practical and design needs.

Note: The grade shown is for home and trade sold primarily for use in landscaping and building. A further 20 mm aggregate GAP product which is TNZ- certified (Transit New Zealand) roading grade product is available for the construction of new roads if required. Please contact us if you have interest in this product.

When laying bricks, pavers or cobblestones over this product we recommend that you place and screed a thin layer of paving sand over the well-compacted GAP20 to create a soft bed on which to place the finishing products.
